Tropikal Brands Afrika Ltd has launched a new line of personal care products under the ALO brand, featuring formulations infused with natural ingredients to meet the growing consumer demand.
The company has invested Sh387 million (approximately $3 million) in the development of this range, which includes Body Lotions, Shower Gels, Body Sprays, and Roll-Ons.
Speaking at the launch, Tropikal Brands Afrika Managing Director Davis Mukuria described the unveiling of the ALO range as a key milestone in the company’s mission to provide high-quality, nature-inspired personal care solutions.
"At Tropikal Brands Afrika, we are committed to providing high-quality, effective, and sustainable skincare and hygiene solutions that meet the needs of a discerning consumer," Mukuria stated.
"The ALO range of personal care products underscores this commitment."
As part of its effort to promote local agricultural value chains, Mukuria highlighted the incorporation of goat milk in ALO Body Lotions, a move that has seen the company collaborate with over 500 Kenyan farmers and suppliers.
The goat milk extract, rich in natural lactic acid, aids in exfoliation and skin nourishment.
The product range also includes Aluminium-Free Deodorants designed to offer 48 hours of freshness while ensuring skin health.
“We are also working hard to elevate the role of local manufacturing sector players in fostering agricultural value chain growth as attested by the use of goat milk extracts in some of the ALO products,” Mukuria added.
Tropikal Brands Afrika Head of Commercial, Simon Kabue, commended Kenyan farmers for their role in ensuring high-quality raw materials for the formulations.
"We are proud of the journey it has taken us to get here with the support of Kenyan farmers. They have ensured we have high-quality ingredients to come up with various formulations for our personal care products," Kabue stated.
"We are grateful that we have had the opportunity to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for local economic growth in line with our sustainability agenda."
Kenya’s personal care market is currently valued at Sh166.8 billion (approximately $1.29 billion), with an expected annual growth rate of 4.90 per cent from 2025 to 2030, according to global data and business intelligence platform Statista
Mukuria emphasised that innovation remains central to the company’s strategy.
“At Tropikal Brands Afrika, innovation is at the heart of what we do. We are dedicated to continuously enhancing our product offerings to meet the consumer’s evolving needs while also contributing to job creation and economic growth,” he said.
The ALO personal care products will be available across major retail outlets in East and Central Africa, offering consumers a locally crafted, nature-driven alternative in the growing beauty and hygiene market.
