The Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) has appointed Raimond Molenje as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective December 1, 2024.

The appointment follows a detailed selection process managed by the KBA Governing Council's Human Resources Committee.

Molenje, who joined KBA in 2018 as Director of Legal, Human Resources, and Policy Advocacy, has played a pivotal role in advancing the sector's advocacy and policy initiatives.

Over recent months, he has led several successful lobbying efforts and strengthened critical industry relationships.

His new role will see him guide KBA’s strategic direction and oversee advocacy, sustainability, and capacity-building initiatives across the banking sector.

In a statement, KBA Chairman John Gachora congratulated Molenje on his appointment, saying, “The KBA Governing Council, on behalf of all its member banks, congratulates Molenje on his well-deserved appointment and wishes him success as he steers the association into its next phase of growth and impact.”

With over 19 years of experience in legal and regulatory practice, human resource leadership, and stakeholder engagement, Molenje brings a wealth of expertise to the role.

His previous positions include senior leadership roles at De La Rue Currency & Security Print, the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE), Equity Bank, and the Rural Electrification & Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC).

Molenje also practised civil and commercial litigation for more than six years before joining the corporate sector.

Beyond his new position as CEO, Molenje serves on the Board of the Auctioneers & Licensing Board under the Attorney General’s Office and represents the banking industry on the Mediation Accreditation Committee of the Judiciary.

He is also actively involved in several task forces and working groups focused on advancing Kenya’s socio-economic development.

Molenje holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi, a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, and an International Diploma in Human Resource Management from Cambridge International College in the UK.

He is also an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Commissioner for Oaths, and a Notary Public.

Additionally, he is a practising member of both the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
