Kenya Airways has announced its intention to resume weekly flights to and from Eldoret, in Uasin Gishu County, five days a week commencing from March 25, 2024.

According to KQ , its weekly flights to Eldoret town will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, in what is expected to boost business and tourism in the agriculturally rich region.

Eldoret is the economic hub of Uasin Gishu County is well known for its vibrant agricultural sector, which includes grain, dairy, and horticulture with the return of the KQ flights set to give them a major boost.

KQ halted its flight services on the Nairobi-Eldoret route in 2014 but now says the resumption is part of the airline’s elaborate plan to spread its wings across its network after disruptions caused by Covid-19.

Kenya Airways CEO Allan Kilavuka stated that the resumption of the national carrier’s flights to Eldoret will significantly augment the connectivity in the strategic region and accelerate its access to foreign markets.

“Our renewed focus on the domestic market reaffirms Kenya Airways' pivotal role in advancing Africa's economic prosperity,” stated Kilavuka.

He added: “By connecting Eldoret to our extensive network, we aim to stimulate growth and foster lasting socio-economic development in the region.”

Kilavuka pledged KQ will provide reliable and efficient air travel and competitive fares in a bid to support the government’s economic development ambitions while at the same time fostering regional integration.

“The airline remains committed in its mission to connect people, cultures, and markets, contributing to the prosperity and well-being of communities across Africa and beyond,” the KQ boss concluded.
