NCBA on Friday celebrated the International Women’s Day by hosting more than 100 SME customers for a gala dinner at a hotel in Homabay County to promote gender inclusivity.

The dinner celebrated women in business, who delved into opportunities in the SME sector, their unique experiences, women empowerment, and financial literacy among other topics.

NCBA Group Director Commercial and SME Banking Robert Kiboti said the event held in partnership with Homa Bay County Government feted women making remarkable impact in the society.

“As NCBA prepares to inaugurate its branch in Homa Bay, we are committed to supporting SMEs as they are the key drivers in the economy of Homabay,” said Kiboti.

He added: “This exemplifies our commitment to supporting and uplifting women on their path to success.”

The event also attracted policymakers, politicians, investors, economists, academics, and non-state actors, who were treated to success stories from a variety of entrepreneurs.

Homa Bay CEC for Ministry of Youth, Sports, Talent Development, Gender, Inclusivity, Cultural Heritage and Social Services Sarah Malit reiterated the county’s pledge to empower women.

“We have implemented strategies to empower women and girls. I appreciate our partners whose support has been essential in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, reinforcing the significance of empowering women in their entrepreneurial journey,” she indicated.

Malit added, “As NCBA comes in as a new partner in Homabay County, we assure you that you will get a rich customer base. Homabay has a lot of potential for value chain financing.”

NCBA unveiled 15 sustainability commitments in 2023 focusing on boosting diversity, equity and inclusion to enable women and youth through targeted mentorship and skill building.
