Safaricom has announced that it will have a scheduled network maintenance operation that will temporarily affect certain services on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 11:00pm to 4:00am on Monday, October 9, 2023.

In a statement, Safaricom said the planned maintenance is meant to support its innovation and accommodate the growing demand among customers for its services.

The leading telecommunications company in Kenya says, during that outage period, a number of its key services will be available intermittently.

“To support even more innovations and growth in customer demand for our services, we will be carrying out planned network maintenance,” reads the statement from Safaricom.

Among the services that will be affected are Lipa Na M-Pesa Pay Bill and Buy Goods, M-Pesa business to customer (B2C) and Business to Business (B2B), USSD services including *100# and *200#, Daraja Portal and all M-Pesa API’s.

The others that will be affected include M-Shwari, KCB M-Pesa and M-Kesho, pinless top-up, loT services, M-Pesa App and Safaricom App, international money transfers (Western Union) and M-Pesa Global as well as M-Pesa organization portal, Dealer portal and Lipa na M-Pesa portal.

However, all other Safaricom services will not be affected among them calls, data and SMS and all other M-Pesa services.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your support in maintaining our position as the country’s leading provider,” announced Safaricom on Saturday. 

Safaricom last week unveiled a revamped in-country cloud computing platform and services to assist businesses and organizations in digitizing their operations.
