Kenya Railways has made an official announcement regarding the resumption of train services for the Syokimau and Lukenya routes, bringing relief to its valued customers and the general public.

In a statement released by the management on Friday, the company declared that train operations would recommence on Friday, starting from 12:50 pm.

The management has assured passengers that the trains will operate according to their regular schedules, ensuring a seamless and convenient travel experience for all commuters.

The move comes as a welcome development for individuals who relied on the Syokimau and Lukenya train services for their daily commute, as well as those who depend on rail transportation for their business and leisure activities.

Kenya Railways temporarily suspended services on the railway route on Thursday following an unfortunate incident in which a rowdy crowd launched serious attacks on the company's train and the railway.

"This is due to the volatile security situation arising from consistent attacks on our trains passing through Mukuru kwa Njenga, by rowdy individuals who are barricading rail tracks and stoning the train," Kenya Railways said.

"We highlight two incidents where, yesterday evening, the Lukenya bound train was attacked at 6:00pm, and this morning, a train carrying 520 pupils was attacked at 11:00am."

The resumption of train services on the Syokimau and Lukenya routes is expected to alleviate the burden on road transportation and contribute to easing traffic congestion in these areas.

Commuters can now enjoy the benefits of a convenient and eco-friendly mode of transportation, with trains serving as a viable alternative to private vehicles, reducing the strain on road infrastructure.
