Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) on Wednesday released Sh2.47 billion to banks for the green leaf delivered by farmers for the month of January 2023.
The agency says the amount is payment for 120 million kilogrammes of green leaf delivered to factories managed by KTDA with farmers able to access their banked cash from Thursday.
KTDA, however, admitted that the payment for delivered green leaf had experienced a slight delay due to system glitch that is assured had since been resolved.
The disbursement by the agency follows a payment of Sh5.5 billion made in January for the mini-bonus and another made in December 2022 for deliveries of green leaf tea to KTDA.
“KTDA remains committed to the welfare of the farmers and endeavors to continually maintain and improve their interests,” the agency said in a statement.
