Saurabh Upadhyay, the Jumia Senior Key Account Manager in Kenya, has revealed the top selling electronics as the e-commerce platform continues with its Black Friday celebration.

Upadhyay, who spoke to Swala Nyeti, says Kenyans focused more on domestic necessities during the pandemic but once things settled down their uptake of electronics went up.

Mobile phones and television are the fastest selling electronics on Jumia Kenya as appetite in all tiers grows exponentially as Kenya recovers from the pandemic economic turmoil.

Upadhyay says appliances and computers follow closely with TVs experiencing a 50 per cent growth yearly since 2020.

In the tv segment, Samsung leads in sales in the Tier 1 segment, while TCL tops the Tier 2 followed by Hisense and Vitron dominates the Tier 3 followed by other Chinese brands.


In the phone segment, according to the Jumia Electronics Director, Transsion brands (Tecno, Infinix and Itel) are leading the pack top followed by Samsung and Xiaomi mobile devices.
