Safaricom on Wednesday launched Daima, a service that will enable its customers to keep their mobile lines active for six months up to two years without any further airtime top up.

Daima seeks to address challenge of inactive lines for customers who may travel, live abroad for long periods, are away at school or police/army training, have changed line ownership due to death of a loved one, for car tracking service or wish to keep multiple active lines.

Safaricom says one must have used its service in the previous 90 days to be considered as active with telecommunication operators required to reissue inactive customer lines.

“We are yet again innovating around our customers’ needs by introducing solutions such as Daima that are modelled around the lifestyles of our customers. The Daima service empowers customers such as those working abroad, those in learning institutions, those going away for extended periods, or those with multiple lines to keep their lines active and remain affordably connected for an extended period of between 6 and 24 months without the need to frequently top up,” said Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa.

Daima will offer three packages;

• Sh200 for 6 months

• Sh500 for 1 year

• Sh1,000 for 2 years

Each option will provide a customer with 20 minutes calling time and 20 SMS across all networks monthly.

Safaricom says its customers will be able to access Daima by dialing *100*4# and selecting the Daima option, and through MySafaricom App in the coming weeks.
