The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) has applied for a review of the transportation and storage tariffs for the period 2021/22 to 2024/25.
Should the application get approved, it would mean Kenyans will cringe at the pumps as the price of fuel will hike over the next few years.
According to the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), KPC is looking to fund the improvement of its pipeline between Mombasa and Nairobi with the revenue raised by the proposed tariff.
“In January 2022, EPRA received an application from KPC for the review of the pipeline transportation and secondary storage tariffs of the period 2021/22 to 2024/25,” EPRA said.

While considering capital expenditure provision for capacity enhancement of the eastern section of the pipeline and the proposed revised throughput forecast, KPC also submitted an amendment tariff application dated July 1, 2022.
However, EPRA did not disclose the contents of the tariff application. However, they said it would be publicised for public scrutiny.
