Human Mobile Devices (HMD) has unveiled a new portfolio of family-oriented devices and fan-focused collaborations at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.
The global smartphone maker aims to address concerns over excessive screen time and online safety while also celebrating its partnership with FC Barcelona.
HMD announced the HMD Fusion X1, a smartphone developed in collaboration with Xplora to encourage healthier digital habits among teenagers.
The device includes parental controls and does not support social media or internet access unless explicitly enabled by a guardian.
According to research conducted by HMD, which surveyed 25,000 children and adults worldwide, "more than half of children have been contacted by strangers online."

Expanding into audio accessories, HMD unveiled the HMD Amped Buds, the first wireless earbuds with a charging case that can magnetically power a smartphone.
The earbuds also offer an extensive 90-hour playback time.
Reflecting on HMD’s growth over the past year, Jean-Francois Baril, CEO and Chairman of Human Mobile Devices, said the company has achieved significant milestones.
"Our first year creating devices under the Human Mobile Devices brand has been full of highlights, with world-class phones launched, investment in socially responsible initiatives both at home in Europe and abroad, and double-digit volume growth of our feature phones, plus 2024 is our highest ever operating profit," Baril stated.
The new family-focused initiative builds on the Better Phone Project, which saw HMD collaborate with families and experts in 2024 to develop child-friendly devices.
The company confirmed that the new range of phones will be introduced to the Kenyan market in phases throughout 2025.
