SME owners in Nairobi now have access to new business hubs launched by SBM Bank Kenya, a move designed to provide both financial and advisory support.

The three hubs, situated in the Central Business District, Kilimani, and Karen, offer entrepreneurs dedicated spaces for networking, business clinics, and capacity-building forums.

SBM Bank Kenya Board Chair Shakilla Jhungeer highlighted the importance of SMEs to the economy and reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to their growth.

"At SBM Bank, we recognize that SMEs are the backbone of our economy as they drive job and wealth creation and the launch of the business hubs reaffirms our commitment to empowering SMEs," Jhungeer stated.

"The hubs will be a transformational platform for small and medium-sized business and we highly encourage our SME customers to take advantage of this opportunity to receive the financial advice, tools and resources they need to scale up their businesses."

Beyond offering expert financial guidance, the hubs will double as professional workspaces where business owners can host meetings with clients and partners.

This initiative is part of SBM Bank’s broader strategy to support SMEs with tailor-made financial solutions that promote sustainable business growth.

Jhungeer further noted that the bank plans to extend the reach of these hubs, saying, “As part of our continued SME-focused initiatives, SBM Bank will continue to expand the reach of the business hubs to ensure more entrepreneurs benefit from financial and capacity building support.”

This development comes shortly after SBM Bank introduced the Jijenge Biashara solution, which enables SMEs to access loans worth twice their savings while also earning interest on deposits.

Additionally, through a USD 10 million risk-sharing agreement with the African Guarantee Fund, the bank is enhancing access to credit for SMEs, particularly women-led enterprises, by reducing lending risks and strengthening financial management and marketing skills.

By combining advisory services, financing options, and exclusive workspaces, SBM Bank seeks to position SMEs for long-term success in an increasingly competitive business landscape.
