Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has secured certification for its Knox Native Solution from Germany’s Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI), a leading authority in information security.

This certification confirms the solution meets rigorous security standards required for governmental and enterprise use.

Developed with BSI, the Knox Native Solution incorporates advanced features, including an embedded Secure Element (eSE) with the BSI Java Card Applet, certified at Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level (CC EAL) 6+.

This feature ensures data integrity, real-time threat protection, and encrypted storage, enabling secure communication channels without the need for third-party software.

Traditionally, achieving government-grade security on Android devices was complex, involving external SD cards, multiple PINs, and lengthy certification processes.

“Previously, achieving government-grade secure mobile communication on Android-based devices often required the use of external SD cards, additional software and multiple PINs, resulting in a cumbersome manual process with high costs and prolonged approval cycles for security solutions,” Samsung explained.

To address these issues, Samsung collaborated with the BSI to create a pre-configured, government-grade mobile security solution.

This certification makes Samsung Galaxy devices the first in the Android ecosystem to meet BSI’s security requirements.

The Knox Native Solution simplifies deployment, using a single PIN for access and seamless integration of company-owned apps through the Knox Native Solution SDK.

It also streamlines security updates by only requiring new apps to be reviewed, making it more efficient for organisations managing large device fleets.

Tuncay Sandikci, Director of MX B2B at Samsung Electronics Germany, highlighted that the certification demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to high security standards for government and enterprise solutions.

“We are honoured to receive this certification from the BSI as proof of our commitment to meeting rigorous security standards and providing fortified mobile security solutions to a growing list of governments and enterprises worldwide," Sandikci stated.

"In an increasingly hyperconnected world, we remain dedicated to empowering all users with secure, privacy-driven experiences that put transparency and user choice at the forefront.”

The certification positions the Knox Native Solution as a viable option for sectors like energy and public transportation that need strong mobile security.

Samsung plans to expand its availability to other regions, underscoring its commitment to supporting global secure mobile communication.
