Tecno on Tuesday officially launched in Kenya the latest of its premium sub-brand, the Phantom X2 Series, in an elaborate event at the Global Trade Centre (GTC) in Nairobi.

The series having the Phantom X2 5G and Phantom X2 Pro 5G signifies Phantom’s foray into the high-end global smartphone market boasting of inventive features and performance.

Phantom X2 Pro 5G’s comes with an innovative 2.5x optical zoom retractable portrait lens with a 65mm focal length that is says revolutionizes photography in the smartphone industry.

According to Tecno, the Phantom retractable lens enables the user to capture portrait photographs equivalent to professional camera shots with just a pocket-sized device.

The Phantom X2 Pro 5G is available in an eco-friendly edition that features an innovative microfiber back cover made from recycled plastics.

The Phantom X2 Pro 5G and Phantom X2 5G both come powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 4nm 5G chip.

The Phantom series come in a unique unibody double-curved build and a 3.5D lunar crater design in three mysterious, space-inspired colors, that are appealing to look at and hold.

Portrait Lens

The X2 Pro 5G has four extraordinary cameras including the retractable portrait lens stands out as a technological novelty allowing the user to take “studio-like” portrait photography.

Its 65mm lens’ 2.5x optical zoom, large F1.49 aperture and shallow 18.9cm depth of field creating a remarkable pure optical bokeh portraits.

Double-Curved

The Phantom X2 Series design delivers to the user exceptional performance, comfort and style and draws inspiration from art, nature and mathematics.

The smartphone device comes with smooth unibody double-curved design that has geometric lines that give it a sleek, futuristic appearance.


It also comes with 3.5D lunar craters giving the retractable lens module a slim look minus sharp edges for a more comfortable use and allowing the user to hold it at an angle of 71°.

Smooth Performance

The Series also comes equipped with MediaTek’s stupendous Dimensity 9000 5G chip, the world’s first TSMC 4nm 5G mobile SoC, backed by an octa-core CPU for better performance.


The chip’s 7th Generation Imagiq 790 powerful ISP can process 9 billion pixels a second for outstanding photos and power efficiency offering a smoother experience for the user.

Memory and Features

The Phantom X2 Series comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage and is powered by a 5160mAh battery boosted by a rapid 45W flash charging.

It also comes with a Master of Language translation tool with photo and document translation, Smart Panel with real-time subtitling and Smart Scanner with document signing.


The device carries the Smart 5G 2.0, which reduces 5G power consumption ominously, and an upgraded “Ella” AI Voice Assistant available even in offline mode.

It also comes with Tecno’s HiOS 12, which provides the dynamic user with a highly optimized Operating System that offers them a more vivid and dynamic experience.

Availability and Price

The Phantom X2 Series will be available in Kenya for purchase in all Tecno official stores on Jumia, Safaricom retail outlets as well as the Tecno website and Tecno retail stores.

The Phantom X2 will retail in Kenya for Sh67,999 while the Phantom X2 Pro will go for Sh82,999.
