Elon Reeve Musk, the world's richest man, on Friday completed his $44 billion or Sh5.34 trillion acquisition of popular social media platform Twitter, US media has reported.

“The bird is freed,” Musk tweeted at 6:49am on Friday in what is perceived to be in reference to the historic Sh5,341,160,000,000 deal for the ownership of Twitter.

Twitter Inc CEO Parag Agrawal is reported to be among senior executives bond to exit the company as Musk completed his takeover deal, according to reports in the American media.

Also expected to leave are head of legal, policy and trust Vijaya Gadde; Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, and general counsel Sean Edgett, the reports continued to reveal.

According to a report by Reuters, Agrawal and two other top executives were escorted out of Twitter's San Francisco headquarters on Thursday evening.

The conclusion of the takeover deal by Musk has ended legal battles that had gone on for months but has given life to speculations on where he will steer the social media giant to.

Bret Taylor, who had been working as the Twitter chairman since November 2021, has updated his LinkedIn profile to show that he was not holding the key position anymore.

Musk, who bashed Twitter and its moderation policies, wrangled with the firm over its acquisition terms accusing it of availing misleading information about its user numbers.

He had said he would reverse bans on suspended users, among them being former US President Donald Trump, who was banished owing to the Capitol Hill riots of January 2021.

Twitter shares are expected to be suspended from trading on Friday, based on information published on the website of the New York Stock Exchange.
