WhatsApp is set to introduce a dedicated media hub on its web version, aiming to spare users the hassle of sifting through long chat threads to retrieve shared content.

The new feature will consolidate all images, videos, documents and links exchanged across conversations into one accessible section.

The update will appear in the sidebar, providing a structured gallery-like layout for quick browsing. Users will no longer need to enter individual chats to locate a file.

Instead, the centralised hub will categorise shared content into three main groups: Media, Documents and Links.

Each item will come with contextual information, including the sender's name, the date it was shared and other relevant details.

Users will also be able to search for media using captions and sort results by criteria such as the oldest first, most recent or largest file.

WhatsApp is also integrating bulk actions into the new section.

With the multi-select tool, users can delete, download or forward multiple items simultaneously, enhancing control over file management.

This addition builds on recent enhancements that have focused on improving how users handle media within the app.

While similar functionality has already been extended to WhatsApp Communities, this marks the first time web users will gain the same streamlined experience.

The update is rolling out gradually and will reach users worldwide over the coming weeks.

As messaging increasingly spans across devices, WhatsApp is aligning its platforms to ensure a consistent, seamless experience for all users.
