Facebook and Instagram were down early Friday morning, with many users in Kenya taking to Twitter to report that they could not access the two apps to share their content.
The outage appeared to start around some minutes past midnight in Kenya, with several thousands of people also reporting similar outages on the two platforms across the globe.
This is the second time in less than a month that the Mark Zuckerberg-owned social media giant has experienced a glitch after an incident on March 19 that took the sites offline for hours.

The tech company is yet to issue an official statement on what exactly has caused the global outage on the popular platforms and even as the services of the two platforms resumed more than 20 minutes later.
Facebook is the most popular social media platform worldwide with more than 2.6 billion monthly active users, while Instagram boasts of more than 1.074 billion global users.
