Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has launched two new mobile devices under its A-series; Oppo A74 and Oppo A54 in Kenya scaling up the tough smartphone competition.

Oppo A74, which comes in two colours (Prism Black and Midnight Blue), comes with a large 5000mAh battery, 33W Flash Charge and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and will retail at Sh28,999.

Oppo A54, which comes in two colours (Crystal Black and Starry Blue) has two memory and storage options; 4GB RAM + 64GB storage will retail at Sh21,999 and 4GB RAM + 128GB ROM goes for Sh24,999.

“The A Series aims to make technology more tangible and fun for those on the go and are socially active. They’re not afraid to embrace the latest technology as the latest generation of A Series, Oppo A74 and Oppo A54 offer a design that balances both the technology that can get them through their day, but also balances this with style,” said Muthoni Wachira, Head of Corporate Communication and Projects at Oppo Kenya.

Oppo A74 spots a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chip, delivers a super smooth performance, and minimises phone lag and boasts of up to 6GB of RAM to manage multiple tasks.

Oppo says it offers all-day power due to its larger 5000mAh battery and 33W Flash Charge and due to its fast-charge a user can enjoy full battery in 72-minute charge.

Its Rear AI Triple Camera features a 48MP main camera, paired with a 2MP depth camera and a 2MP macro camera.

The phone also has a 16MP AI selfie camera at the front.

Its cameras shoot stabilized video, Steady Video films in 30FPS at 1080 or 720p and slow-motion videos filmed with SLO-MO in 720p at 120FPS and edit using Oppo’s video editing app, Soloop.

The Oppo A74 weighs about 175g and is only 7.95mm thin and features a 3D curved back cover for a comfortable grip and uses the die-casting aluminum alloy technology.

It also boats of an AMOLED FHD+ punch-hole display with Ultra-high resolution for an immersive high-performance feel for its gamers, added to its Qualcomm Snapdragon 662.

Similarly, Oppo A54 runs on a Mediatek Helio P35 (MT6765) Octa-Core Processor, with HyperBoost that enhances the performance and smoothness of select apps or games by reallocating system resources, depending on how you use your phone.

A54 features a long-lasting battery life with 5000mAh capacity, and 18W Fast Charge.

It has a 3-camera layout and its lens uses a superposition process through etching and screen printing, while the decorative color uses metal oxide colors.

The rear cameras feature a 13MP Main Camera, 2MP Macro Camera and 2MP Bokeh as well as a 16MP front selfie camera.

The new device also supports video filming, including SLO-MO of 720P at 90FPS with the rear camera, and up to 10 video filters, which includes Original, Gentle, Noon, Subtle.

Oppo A54 achieved the industry standard of IPX4 Waterproof under laboratory setting conditions.
