Twitter is testing Tip Jar, a function that allows users to send money to their favorite tweeps on the social media platform.

Twitter introduced Tip Jar on Thursday, with the new feature now making it easier for tweeps to send cash to their favorite content creators on the micro-blogging site.

“This is a first step in our work to create new ways for people to receive and show support on Twitter — with money,” Twitter said in a blog post.

The feature will allow users to link their Twitter accounts with Tip Jar to PayPal, Cash App, Bandcamp, Patreon or Venmo but Twitter will take no cut from cash sent through the feature.

Twitter users on iOS and Android will from Thursday be able to add Tip Jar to their profiles and start using the new feature to send money through Tip Jar.

A number of users will be able to add Tip Jar to their Twitter profiles to start collecting tips, including journalists, creators, experts and nonprofit organisations, according to Twitter.

Twitter has recently been adding new features to its platform as it seeks to grow its user base to a projected 315 million daily active users by the end of 2023.

This comes after the social media giant launched Spaces, a feature allowing users to join virtual rooms and engage in audio conversations with others on varied topics in real-time.
