Beleaguered Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa on Tuesday made good his threat and forced his way back into the federation offices in Kasarani, Nairobi.

Mwendwa stormed the FKF offices and took back control of the operations while accompanied by Federation CEO Barry Otieno and among other football officials.

The Tuesday events at the FKF Goal Project offices in Kasarani comes barely a week after the embattled FKF boss gave an intimation that he planned to regain control of Kenyan football.

Mwendwa and his team of officials were removed from office by Sports CS Amina Mohamed in November and a caretaker committee was formed to manage football in the country.

While ejecting Mwendwa and his team from office, Amb Amina had intimated her pronouncement was based on serious corruption allegations against the expelled officials.


The sudden decision by the Sports Cabinet Secretary saw Kenya suspended by the world football governing body, FIFA from taking part in all international football competitions.

While issuing the ban against Kenya, FIFA demanded that Mwendwa be reinstated to the helm of the Kenyan football federation before it could reconsider lifting the ban.


Mwendwa, in a letter addressed to FIFA President Gianni Infantino and dated September 8, 2022, revealed his plan to regain control of FKF and continue serving as its president.
