A wave of joy rented the air as the Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Stars team finally flew out of Nairobi Saturday evening destined for Spain for a week-long global football training camp.
The journey was marked with a heartfelt farewell dinner Friday night, where the young stars were encouraged to embrace every moment of the experience both on and off the pitch.
Safaricom CEO Dr Peter Ndegwa wished the youngsters a safe and exciting trip to Spain and a rewarding experience during their 11-day long training tour of the European country.
“I want to sincerely thank everyone who has made this journey possible, especially our young players who continue to inspire us with their passion and talent,” said Dr Ndegwa.
He added: “This trip is not just another travel experience; it is an opportunity to learn, to sharpen your skills, and to showcase your abilities on a global stage.”

The All-Stars will spend their time in Spain under the expert guidance of professional football coaches from SD Huesca.
Their packed schedule includes high-intensity training sessions and friendly matches against Huesca’s Youth Academy, an invaluable chance to measure themselves against some of Europe’s finest young talent.
To broaden their horizons, the players will also soak in Spain’s rich culture with sightseeing tours and attend an electrifying Segunda Division clash between SD Huesca and Málaga CF.
Speaking ahead of the departure, the All-Stars Girls’ Team coach Chrispine Odindo noted the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will enable the players learn, grow, and test themselves against international talent.
“For us coaches, it is equally important as we get exposure to new training methods that will enrich the local game when we return,” said Odindo.
He added: “I look forward to the exposure, to experiencing football in a different environment, and to learning new coaching methods and techniques that I can bring back home to continue nurturing our young talent.”
The squad will be led on the pitch by captains Stanley Waswa of Ndura Sports Academy (boys) and Manda Sunira Were of Highland Royals Moi Girls (girls), who will carry the pride and resilience of Kenyan grassroots football into the heart of Spain.
With their boots laced and dreams packed, the All-Stars are scheduled to not only sharpen their skills but also showcase the limitless potential of Kenya’s rising football generation.
