Over Sh1 million in prizes and a ticket to the grand finale will be up for grabs as the KCB East Africa Golf Tour swings into Bujumbura this Saturday, drawing 100 top amateur golfers to the 18-hole Bujumbura Golf Club for a contest that will shape the final leg of the tour.
Two winning teams from this leg will secure automatic qualification to the tour’s climactic grand finale in December, joining earlier qualifiers such as Brian Omondi, Mike Mwenda, Ndegwa Thuku, Bernard Mureithi, Grace Ngamau, Lawrence Ngamau, Margaret Waweru, and Jackson Waweru, who advanced after a strong showing at Thika Sports Club during the third leg.
Benjamin Huynen, the Club Captain, said the Bujumbura leg, now in its third year as part of the KCB Golf Tour, represents more than just competition.
"For the third year running, Bujumbura Golf Club is part of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour, a tournament that has played a pivotal role in fostering inclusivity, strengthening regional integration and elevating the game of golf," Huynen stated.
"We welcome all players from the East African region to participate in this tournament that will be highly competitive,"

Beyond the leaderboard, the event carries a green legacy. KCB Bank is spearheading an environmental drive alongside the tournament, pledging to plant over 1,000 trees at participating golf venues, aligning with the government’s vision to grow 15 billion trees by the year 2032.
The champions of this year’s edition will not only walk away with Sh1 million earmarked for a sustainability project at their home club but also earn a fully sponsored slot at a prestigious international golf competition.
Rosalind Gichuru, KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications, underscored the Bank’s continued investment in the sport.
“KCB has been at the forefront of championing the growth of golf," she said.
"This is why over the years, we have invested millions of shillings in support of different tournaments and competitions. Our objective is to democratise the sport and to give everyone an opportunity to play golf."
With regional pride, environmental ambition, and competitive stakes on the line, Bujumbura Golf Club is set to be the epicentre of East Africa’s golfing narrative this weekend.
