Esther Karuga and Paul Muhia on Saturday beat a field of more than 184 amateur golfers to qualify for the NCBA Golf Series grand finale slated for Muthaiga Golf Club on November 28, 2025.

Karuga and Muhia swung their clubs magnificently to emerge top in the women’s and men’s categories at the Nakuru Chapter of the 2025 NCBA qualifiers at Nakuru Golf Club.

Muhia, a Handicap 2 golfer, carded 75 points overall gross and received the top prize and the Nairobi grand finale ticket from NCBA Deputy Director and Head of Brands Jacquie Muhati.

“This was just luck but the course was good,” said Muhia on his coveted victory.

He added: “I’m equally happy to have played with a team of dedicated golfers who made me play better.”

On her part, Karuga carded 90 points to become the overall lady winner in the sixth leg of 159 tournaments set across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda in the NCBA Golf Series.

“I’m happy to have won after some good training sessions in a good course,” she intimated.

Mackton Wekhomba (handicap 10) scored 44 points to emerge the Division One winner, while Moses Ndegwa (handicap 22) scored 39 points to emerge the Division Two Winner.


In the Division Two lady championship, Esther Thuku (handicap 21) carried the day with 38 points, while Risper Mureithi (handicap 31) bagged Division Three with a total of 35 points.

The NCBA Golf Series staff prize went to Rahab Thuo (handicap 26) who carded 30 points.

Through NCBA’s development program with Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) Kenya, the East African region now plays host to 50 young golfers, who are actively honing their golf skills.

Through the golf game, the 2025 series also continued to champion sustainability through NCBA’s “Change The Story” initiative by donating 100 tree seedlings to the Nakuru Golf Club.


The move is part of NCBA’s wider sustainability pledge to grow 10 million trees by 2030 after collaborating with Kenya Forest Service and other partnering institutions to plant more than 426,000 trees across the region in 2024 alone.

At the Nakuru leg, a brand-new JCB 3DX Backhoe Loader provided by NCBA Golf Series partner, JCB Ganatra Plant & Equipment, was at stake for any golfer managing a hole-in-one.
