Jose Mourinho has been sacked as the head of coach of Tottenham Hotspur after leading the team for only 17 months.

The Portuguese coach was hire to replace Mauricio Pochettino as the Spurs manager in November 2019.

Mourinho penned a coaching deal that was expected to terminate at the end of the 2023 league season and had led the club to 6th position in the Premier League last season.

Spurs are currently 7th placed in the league after collecting two points from their last three league clashes even as they were kicked out of the Europa League in March.

Mourinho's sacking came barely 24 hours after Spurs announced it was one of 12 clubs plotting to launch a breakaway European Super League.
