The Board of Directors of the National Authority for Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has elected Vincent Muasya Mutua alias Chipukeezy as the Board Vice Chairperson effective Wednesday March 23.

The Board said it made the appointment under Section 6(1)(h) and Paragraphs 3(1) and 3(2) of the NACADA Act, 2012.

Chipukeezy now replaces Peterson Mwai, who served in that capacity until December 2020.

NACADA Board Chairperson Prof. Mabel Imbuga said Chipukeezy will be instrumental in steering the mandates of the authority as he resonates with the young people in the country.

In the announcement by Prof Imbuga, the youth were identified as being a critical target group for NACADA’s prevention campaigns.

Chipukeezy pledged to use the opportunity to spearhead youth and children programmes in line with the authority’s strategic plan to provide hope for the young people struggling with addiction in the country.

He said he was looking forward to working with the board members to provide strategic guidance and policy direction, especially during this time when the country is facing various challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic.

President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Chipukeezy as the youngest director to the NACADA board three years ago.
