The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Kenya Forum and the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve data quality and inclusivity for reporting on Kenya's progress towards the 2030 Agenda.

This partnership seeks to address data gaps by integrating Citizen-Generated Data (CGD) with official statistics. Dr. Macdonald Obudho, Director General of KNBS, highlighted, “The MoU demonstrates our commitment to working together to improve data availability, usage, and quality for sustainable development.”

Florence Syevuo, Executive Director of the SDGs Kenya Forum, added, “Today, as we formalize our journey through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, we are taking a decisive step towards strengthening our collaboration, reaffirming our commitment to improving the quality and accessibility of data for sustainable development.”

The collaboration is crucial for ensuring that marginalized communities are represented in national and global reports.

The joint action plan, a key outcome of the MoU, will guide initiatives to enhance SDG reporting accuracy and inclusivity in Kenya.

This partnership marks a significant step towards achieving the SDGs by 2030, showcasing the critical role of comprehensive data in sustainable development.
