A significant reshuffle within the upper echelons of Kenya's National Police Service (NPS) and Kenya Prisons Service (KPS) has been announced following the resignation of the Inspector General of the National Police Service, Japheth Koome.

President William Ruto, responding swiftly, accepted the resignation effective immediately and implemented a series of leadership changes to ensure continuity within the National Police Service (NPS) and Kenya Prisons Service (KPS).

Key Appointments and Reassignments

Patrick Mwiti Arandu was appointed as the new Commissioner General of Prisons, taking over from Brigadier (Rtd) John Warioba, CBS, who is set to retire.

Within the NPS, Douglas Kanja, CBS, the current Deputy Inspector General, will assume the role of Acting Inspector-General until a permanent replacement is nominated, vetted by parliament, and appointed.

Noor Gabow, CBS, will be redeployed within the Public Service under Section 17 of the National Police Service Act.

New Leadership for Deputy Inspector General Positions

Eliud Langat will serve as the Acting Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, while James Kamau will be the Acting Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service.

- Ranson Lolmodooni - Commandant, General Service Unit (GSU)

- Gilbert Masengeli - Commandant, Administration Police Training College (APTC)

- William Yiampoy - Director of Operations, Police Headquarters

- Kainga Mathiu - Commandant, National Police Leadership Academy (NPSA)
