Motorists travelling on Mombasa Road near Imaara Mall in Nairobi can expect delays over the next two weekends due to planned roadworks by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).

The closures will be implemented in two phases to facilitate the installation of culverts and reinstatement works along the busy highway.

The first phase will commence tonight, Friday at 8:00 PM and remain in effect until Monday at 6:00 AM.

This closure will affect only the Nairobi-bound lanes of Mombasa Road near Imaara Mall.

Motorists traveling towards Nairobi are advised to utilize the two designated through lanes and exercise caution while approaching the closed section.

Traffic signs and guidance from police and marshals will be in place to direct traffic flow.

The second phase of the closure is scheduled for Friday next week at 8:00 PM and will continue until Monday, June 10th, 2024, at 6:00 AM.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wish to notify the Public that there will be a partial closure of Mombasa Road, Nairobi bound lanes at Imaara Mall from Friday May 31, 2024 at 20:00 hours to Monday June 3, 2024 at 06:00 hours and closure of the same road section on the Mombasa bound lanes from Friday June 7, 2024 at 20:00 hours to Monday June 10, 2024 at 06:00 hours," KeNHA stated.

During this period, the Mombasa-bound lanes of Mombasa Road at Imaara Mall will be closed and the same recommendations for using the designated through lanes and following traffic directives apply.

KeNHA acknowledges the importance of a seamless road network and expresses its commitment to facilitating safe passage for motorists during these crucial infrastructure improvement works.

The closures are expected to have a moderate impact on traffic flow, particularly during peak hours.
