A house maid alleged to have stabbed two children in Nairobi has been arrested in Eldoret and is in police custody to await arraignment.

The woman was arrested on Saturday evening in a bus destined for Busia County hours after a video clip and photos of the stabbed children and their mother emerged on social media.

The woman’s employer reported to the police that the house maid stabbed her children aged 11 and 5 after they disagreed leading to her dismissal last week on Thursday.

The maid is reported to have sneaked back into the woman’s house at Greenfield Estate in Donholm, Nairobi and attacked her children and stabbed them before fleeing the scene.

The two minors were rushed a hospital in the city and one is reportedly set for surgery.

“Following the overwhelming public outcry over photos and video clips that went viral, depicting a young woman brutalising minors belonging to her former employer, detectives have this afternoon arrested the perpetrator,” confirmed DCI boss George Kinoti Saturday.

Kinoti revealed that the suspect, who had worked for the family for two years, was found with two identification cards.

The prompt action by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations came after a video of a neighbor appealing for help and justice for the woman and her children went viral.

The clip shows the two children in blood-stained clothes, with one having a white bandage wrapped around his head as the woman appealed to police to help track down the woman.
