The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC)’s philanthropic arm – KPC Foundation has breathed new life into Maili Nane, a village in Laikipia County, Kenya, by constructing a state-of-the-art healthcare facility and organizing a free two-day medical camp.

The Sh8 million investment bridges the critical gap in rural healthcare access and empowers the community with vital medical services.

Recognizing the fundamental right to quality healthcare and the financial constraints faced by many Kenyans, the KPC Foundation saw the urgent need for accessible medical services in Maili Nane.

"Only few Kenyans have access to a medical cover. A staggering huge number of the Kenyan population is excluded from quality healthcare coverage," stated KPC Managing Director Joe Sang.

"Consequently, most Kenyans spend a huge amount of their income on health. As such, the KPC Foundation has a key focus on enhancing provision of healthcare services in the country, thus the 8 Million investment in the construction and equipping of this facility."

The cutting-edge facility boasts modern medical infrastructure, diagnostic equipment, consultation rooms, and dedicated treatment areas.

Strategically located to serve not only Maili Nane but also residents around Nanyuki, the facility has been lauded by Laikipia County Governor Joshua Irungu.

"The strategic location of Maili Nane makes the facility a central point for the community, ensuring that residents in and around Nanyuki have access to essential medical services," he remarked.

The KPC Foundation's impact extends beyond the bricks and mortar. Coinciding with the facility's opening was a two-day free medical camp, the 11th organized by the Foundation.

"We will also conduct a two-day free medical camp at the dispensary. This will be the 11th medical camp since the KPC Foundation was founded. We endeavor to scale the medical camps to other counties across the country” added Sang announced.

Over 500 residents received crucial screenings and treatment for various ailments, including breast and cervical cancers, reproductive health issues, and nutritional deficiencies.

This immediate and comprehensive care underscores the Foundation's commitment to delivering tangible and life-changing interventions.

Looking ahead, the KPC Foundation envisions further expansion of the facility to include a dedicated maternity ward.

"The facility is equipped with modern medical infrastructure, diagnostic equipment, consultation rooms and specialized treatment areas. In the near future, we will expand the facility and build a maternity ward," Irungu added.

This proactive approach reflects a deep understanding of the need for sustained investment and strategic growth in rural healthcare solutions.

The Maili Nane story is not just about a new building; it's about empowering a community with access to vital healthcare services.

It's a testament to the transformative power of corporate social responsibility and a beacon of hope for rural communities across Kenya.

The KPC Foundation's investment paves the way for a healthier future, one where accessible healthcare is not a distant dream but a fundamental right enjoyed by all.
