Three individuals lost their lives instantly while scores suffered injuries in a devastating accident that unfolded on Tuesday morning at approximately 0640hrs.

The tragic incident took place along the Isinya/Kitengela road in the Kisaju area, involving a Toyota Matatu and an Isuzu Lorry.

Preliminary investigations conducted by officers from the Isinya Police Station shed light on the sequence of events leading to the collision.

According to the initial findings, the driver of the matatu attempted to overtake the stalled lorry but tragically lost control in the process, resulting in a collision with the rear right side of the lorry.

The impact of the collision was severe, claiming the lives of two unknown female and one male adult passengers on the spot.

The authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims.

In the wake of the accident, other passengers who sustained injuries were swiftly attended to by good Samaritans and promptly transported to various hospitals for urgent medical care.

The extent and nature of their injuries remain undisclosed at this time.

The bodies of the deceased have been moved to Shalom Hospital Mortuary as authorities work to notify their families. 

Motorists are urged to exercise caution on the roads, especially when overtaking, and to adhere to all traffic regulations especially this time when children are reporting back to school.

As the investigation into the accident continues, authorities should be looking into factors such as road conditions, vehicle maintenance, and the circumstances leading up to the ill-fated attempt to overtake the stalled lorry.
