DCI detectives have recovered Sh9,101,300, part of the money stolen from Quickmart Supermarket last week by two Wells Fargo employees.

The stolen sum, totalling Sh94,918,750, was in transit to Family Bank on Monday when the heist occurred.

In a swift operation, officers from Nairobi have successfully apprehended four suspects linked to the daring robbery.

The National Police Service confirmed the arrests in a statement issued via their social media.

Ismael Patrick Gitonga, the alleged owner and driver of the vehicle (registration number KBM 751W Fielder) believed to have been used in transporting the stolen cash, was arrested in the Rongai area.

The investigation led to the discovery of the motor vehicle in Njiru within Kayole.

Two additional suspects, Michael Matolo Njeru and Samwel Onyango, were apprehended in Njiru while attempting to modify the vehicle, perhaps in a bid to conceal its identity.

Moments after a brief interrogation, detectives revved to a spot near the Thika Road Mall in Roysambu, where the 4th suspect - Martin Nderi Ng'ang'a - was arrested.

He led the detectives to his rented house still in Roysambu, where a search therein saw the recovery of Sh9.1 million in cash.

Further aiding the investigation, a cashbox was found in a forest adjacent to Gataka Market in Karen Estate.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to trace, arrest more suspects and recover the remaining stolen cash.

The case is currently pending before the court, and the Regional Criminal Investigations Office in Nairobi is diligently pursuing the ongoing investigation.

The National Police Service extends its gratitude to the public for their unwavering support in bringing these criminals to justice.

"The National Police Service takes this opportunity to thank members of the public for their continued support," the police said.

As the authorities press forward in their pursuit, the collaboration of vigilant citizens remains crucial in upholding the integrity of the law enforcement process.
