Members of Parliament will officially start considering the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Constitutional (Amendment) Bill when it is introduced on the floor of the House floor Thursday.
National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi ordered that The draft Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2020 be introduced in the August House for its First Reading on Thursday.
Muturi on Tuesday ordered the National Assembly Clerk to get enough copies of the BBI Bill urgently for MPs to use during their debate in preparation for a referendum on the document.
The Speaker directed that the copies of the Bill be in the exact form in which they were presented to the 47 county assemblies by the poll agency IEBC for consideration by the House.
43 of the 47 Assemblies passed the BBI Bill, even as Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet and Nandi counties rejecting it while Deputy President William Ruto’s Uasin Gishu is yet to debate on it.
