A 22-year-old man was on Monday charged in a Kiambu court with misusing the social media platform after he posted on Facebook a threat to shoot and kill President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Simon Muchiri was charged under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act for publishing threatening words believed to be harmful to the Office of the President and the person occupying it.
The Prosecution told the Kiambu court that Muchiri made the post threatening to take the life of President Kenyatta if he had a gun on February 27 while at an undisclosed location.
He was arrested by police officers after they reviewed his page and tracked him down using his mobile phone number.
However, Kiambu Principal Magistrate Grace Omodho released Muchiri on a Sh200,000 cash bail or a similar bond after he denied the charges.
