The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a statement to refute reports circulating across the media regarding the supposed arrest of Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

Contrary to the reports, the police maintain that there has been no arrest of the governor.

In a brief and direct statement, the National Police Service stated, "Contrary to the false allegations circulating on social media, the National Police Service wishes to clarify that Police have not arrested Meru Governor, Hon. Kawira Mwangaza."

However, Governor Mwangaza earlier confirmed her arrest and expressed her frustration at the handling of the legal process, but these claims have been contradicted by the National Police Service.

The reaction by the police came in response to widespread reports in the media and on social platforms, which had suggested that Governor Mwangaza had been taken into custody during a recent event in Ruiga Village, Imenti Central Constituency, where she was engaged in a cow donation program as part of her 'Okolea Program’.

These reports had sparked controversy and speculation about the circumstances surrounding the governor's alleged arrest and the subsequent legal proceedings.
