Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang has vehemently refuted allegations connecting him to a gold scam, asserting that the claims are a calculated attempt to tarnish his reputation.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported the arrest of three suspects in Nairobi's Runda estate over the weekend, implicating them in a gold scam with purported links to Senator Chesang.

Chesang, however, issued a statement categorically denying any involvement in the alleged gold scam, which he labelled as "frivolous, vindictive, and prejudicial."

"It has come to my attention that reports regarding an alleged link to three gold scammers arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation adversely mention my name. These reports are not only frivolous, vindictive and prejudicial, but deliberately manufactured to assassinate my character," he said.

He expressed his conviction that the allegations were intentionally fabricated to besmirch his character, and asserted that he was taken aback by the association with the arrested individuals, saying, "I'm denying the allegations which come as a shock to me considering I have no knowledge of who the arrested persons are."

The Senator went further to insinuate political motivations behind the accusations, citing intelligence he claimed to possess.

According to Chesang, a local leader in Trans Nzoia is purportedly threatened by his political ascent.

"The local leader shared the alleged information posted by the DCI before the investigations body uploaded the story with a message tailored to assassinate my character," he stated.

In response to the allegations, Senator Chesang announced his intention to pursue legal action and to issue a demand letter to the DCI for defamation, asserting that he was being manipulated as a pawn in a broader political power struggle.

He concluded by reiterating his standing as a law-abiding citizen and a respected leader, categorically denouncing the reports as "lackadaisical, intemperate, and acrimonious," further asserting that they were designed to divert attention from his significant contributions as a Senator in Trans Nzoia County.

"I therefore would like to set the record straight that I am a law-abiding citizen and a respected leader and these alleged lackadaisical, intemperate and acrimonious reports are meant to divert attention from the impact I have made as a senator in Trans Nzoia County," Chesang stated.

The UDA Senator later visited DCI Headquarters along Kiambu Road in a bid to clear his name accompanied by his lawyer Otiende Amollo.
