The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has strongly condemned the attack that unfolded at Ledhi Sub Location in Mandera County on Sunday, resulting in the tragic loss of two National Police Service officers' lives and leaving several others injured.

The attack, perpetrated by unidentified assailants using an improvised explosive device, has sent shockwaves through the nation and drawn attention to the ongoing threats faced by law enforcement officers who strive to ensure the safety and security of Kenyan citizens.

In response to this devastating incident, IPOA swiftly issued a press statement expressing its profound condolences to the families and colleagues of the fallen officers.

According to IPOS, preliminary reports indicate that the officers were on a routine patrol when their vehicle fell victim to the improvised explosive device, causing the devastating loss and injuries.

"IPOA, in the strongest terms possible, condemns the actions of armed organised criminal groups that seek to threaten the peace and tranquillity enjoyed by Kenyans," declared IPOA in its statement.

"Preliminary reports indicate the incident was a cowardly act of terror and the Authority believes in the determination and unparalleled capabilities of the National Police Service to pursue and bring to justice all criminal elements who may be hellbent on bringing instability to the country."

The Authority expressed its unwavering confidence in the National Police Service's determination and capabilities to bring to justice those responsible for that reprehensible act.

IPOA also emphasized its commitment to upholding the highest standards of policing in Kenya and ensuring that all law enforcement officers are adequately supported while discharging their critical duty of safeguarding the lives and property of Kenyan citizens and residents.

As Kenya mourns the loss of these brave officers, the nation also stands united in its resolve to combat the menace of terrorism and organized crime, which poses a grave threat to the security and stability of the country.

The attack, which IPOA described as a "cowardly act of terror," serves as a chilling reminder of the ongoing threats faced by law enforcement officers who dedicate themselves to ensuring the safety and security of Kenyan citizens.
