Kenya's Faith Kipyegon showcased an awe-inspiring demonstration of prowess on Tuesday at the World Women's 1500m event in Budapest, clinching an unprecedented third consecutive world title in the distance.

The double Olympic champion's masterful performance left spectators and fellow athletes in awe as she led from the starting gun to the finish tape, sealing her legacy as one of the finest middle-distance runners the world has ever seen.

Kipyegon, who had previously clinched gold in the world championships in 2017 and 2022, emerged victorious in a time of 3 minutes 54.87 seconds.

The last-lap kick she unleashed proved to be the decisive move, allowing her to outpace a highly competitive field and secure yet another milestone in her illustrious career.

Ethiopia's Diribe Welteji secured the silver medal with a time of 3:55.69, while Sifan Hassan from the Netherlands claimed the bronze with a time of 3:56.00.

Hassan, known for her remarkable resilience, rebounded from a dramatic fall during the 10,000m event earlier, which had dashed her hopes of completing a treble.

Kipyegon's dominance in the 1500m distance is undeniable, further underscored by her undefeated streak since June 2021.

In a breathtaking season that witnessed her setting three world records, Kipyegon solidified her position as the premier 1500m runner in the world.

The final lap of the race saw Kipyegon surge ahead at the bell, leaving her competitors with a daunting challenge to catch up.

As the Kenyan athlete powered through the last 200 meters, it became evident that her lead was invincible.

Although Welteji and Hassan initiated a late push in the final 100 meters, their efforts fell short, allowing Kipyegon to cross the finish line with her arms raised in triumph.

Saturday's 5,000m event promises another thrilling showdown between Kipyegon and Hassan, as they continue to showcase their remarkable athleticism and determination on the track.
