Juja Member of Parliament Francis Munyua Waititu aka Wakapee is dead.
The Jubilee MP from Kiambu County is reported to have died at MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi on Monday night after a long battle with brain cancer.
“It with deep sorrow that we announce the passing on of our Loving Dad Hon. Francis Munyua Waititu (Member of Parliament Juja Constituency). May His soul Rest in Eternal Peace and may God Grant him the Divine Grace to accept His will,” read a message from his wife Mrs Munyua Waititu and their family.
Wakapee lost his 60-year-old sister Cecelia Wambui to cancer in 2016, coming months after she had been diagnosed with stage four liver cancer.

After Wambui’s burial, Wakapee’s mother was also diagnosed with stage two brain cancer but she was declared cancer-free after 10 months of treatment, including flying out to India.
When Wakapee came out publicly with his battle in 2018, he revealed that up to 63 MP, from both the National Assembly and Senate were allegedly suffering from cancer but kept it under wraps due to stigma associated with it.
A number of politicians including National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, MPs Martha Wangari, Millicent Omanga and Governor Wycliffe Oparanya are among those who have already shared their condolences on social media following the legislator's demise.
Hon Francis Munyua Waititu ‘Wakapay’ was a very dear and close friend. When I vied for the Gatundu South seat in the 2014 by-elections Wakapay was the only sitting MP to defy all odds to come out and openly campaign for me. Rest in Peace my brother Wakapay pic.twitter.com/9KDfym6uZ4
