President William Ruto's Chief of Staff Felix Koskei has startled Kenyans with his revelations on unnamed persons in the same government using his name to extort other public officials.

Koskei, who is also the Head of Public Service, accused the persons whose identities he did not reveal, of moving from one public office to another extorting and intimidating officers.

“It has regrettably come to my attention that unscrupulous criminal elements are moving from one government office to the next intimidating state officials and extorting money in my name,” said Koskei.

In an unprovoked post on Twitter on Friday, he warned other officials in the President Ruto administration to be wary of individuals cutting shadowy deals and dropping his name.

“I call upon Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and CEOs of State corporations to be wary of these crooks and promptly report them to the appropriate authorities for swift action,” warned Ruto’s Chief of Staff.

Koskei accused the said individuals of taking advantage of unknowing Kenyans who are looking for employment or seeking State services warning them of firm legal action.

“The era of criminals taking advantage of gullible Kenyans seeking jobs and government services by misusing names of senior state officials is long gone, and firm action will be taken against these elements,” he added.

A section of Kenyans online have questioned why he was raising the matter on social media instead of taking advantage of his senior position and access to power to address it offline.
