Police Inspector Susan Wambui Muiruri, the Officer-in-Charge of Zimmerman Police Post in Kasarani Division, Nairobi is set to be charged with corruption related charges.

This is after her arrest on Thursday by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) concurred with the commission’s proposals.

Wambui will be charged with two counts of soliciting and getting a bribe from a resident to facilitate the release of his pregnant girlfriend who was detained at Kasarani Police Station.

According to EACC, the offence was committed on April 25, 2021.

The officer was processed at Integrity Centre Police Station on Thursday and freed on cash bail and ordered to appear at Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on Friday for plea taking.

However, the court accepted an application by Wambui’s lawyer to defer her plea by two weeks arguing that his client had fallen sick and was hospitalized after leaving EACC offices.

The city court directed that the matter proceeds on August 9, 2023 when the suspect is expected to charged with the two mentioned offences.
