The late Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji is set to be honoured with a road in Nairobi County’s Central Business District if everything goes according to plan.
Abdi Guyo, Majority Leader in the Nairobi County Assembly, says he will move a motion next week to appeal to the city county’s executive to rename a city road in honour of Haji.
The Matopeni/Springvalley MCA said the motion seeks to pay tribute to the fallen politician, who he termed a peace ambassador who chaired the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce.
Guyo said Haji played a key role in drafting the BBI Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2020 seking to end tribal hostilities in each election cycle among other issues affecting the country.
Yusuf Haji died aged 80 on Monday at Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi after ailing for a long time.

Among leading fallen figures who have had roads in the city named after them include Nobel Laureate Wangari Maathai, Charles Rubia and Cardinal Maurice Otunga.
After MCAs pass a motion to rename a road after a prominent persona, the implementation committee of the county assembly writes to the executive informing it of the passed motion.
The county executive is then expected to within three months effect the change proposed by the county assembly or reject it, and the road to be renamed must fall under the county.
