Jubilee Party Deputy Secretary General and blogger Pauline Njoroge and her close friend Nduta Kangethe were on Monday arraigned in Malindi after their arrest in the weekend.

Pauline and Nduta were apprehended alongside their driver Emanze Jilani while on a vacation in Watamu, Kilifi County, on Saturday over allegations of possession of narcotics and psychotropic drugs.

It remains unclear whether the State will indeed go ahead with its intention to charge the duo amid revelations in the Kenyan media that the charges against them are trumped up.

Pauline, a strong critic of President William Ruto and supporter of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, recently revealed she rejected an offer by the Kenya Kwanza administration to cross over.

Their arraignment comes amid claims from some ruling Kenya Kwanza insiders that Pauline and Nduta might be released after their weekend ordeal in Watamu Police Station cells.

This comes amid pressure from opposition Azimio La Umoja bigwigs, a section of Kenyans and Ruto supporters demanding their release terming their arrest a political witch-hunt.
