Renowned political digital media strategist Pauline Njoroge associated with both the Jubilee party and the Azimio coalition has reportedly been taken into custody by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers.

She was taken into custody while in Watamu, Kilifi County, as confirmed by lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, who provided the details of her arrest on Saturday.

Njoroge's detention comes amid her vocal and persistent criticism of President William Ruto and the policies of the Kenya Kwanza regime.

Her critical remarks on social media platforms have drawn attention and controversy, leading to further scrutiny by the authorities.

One of the key figures voicing concern over Njoroge's arrest is Azimio co-principal, Martha Karua.

In an effort to secure Njoroge's release, Karua echoed Njiru's sentiments by quoting his tweet.

Her tweet mentioned Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome, the National Police Service, and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority.

Additionally, she tagged prominent lobby groups such as Amnesty International and Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, as well as international organizations, the United Nations, and the Africa Union Political Party Affairs.

Pauline's fellow bloggers have also voiced their concern about the circumstances surrounding her arrest and are demanding her immediate release.

Even though details about the exact reason behind Paulin's arrest remain scanty,  an anonymous officer aware of the situation, intimated to the Star that reason for Njoroge's arrest is connected to a tweet she had posted.

However, the officer did not disclose the exact nature of the tweet or the specific reasons behind the investigation.

“There are things we are checking with her,” the officer said.

Njoroge has earned a reputation as an unyielding critic of President William Ruto's administration.

Her social media presence has been marked by relentless critiques of the current regime and its policies.

During the lead-up to the 2022 General Elections, she aligned herself closely with Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, actively participating in campaigns in support of ODM Leader Raila Odinga.

The arrest of a prominent blogger like Njoroge has raised concerns about freedom of speech and the implications it may have for others who express dissenting opinions online.

As the situation unfolds, many are closely monitoring developments and calling for transparency in the investigation and a fair resolution to the matter.

In light of this incident, both the Jubilee party and the Azimio coalition face questions about their stance on freedom of expression and political dissent within their ranks.

With Njoroge's arrest, the authorities have ignited a broader conversation about the balance between freedom of speech and the responsibilities associated with exercising it in the digital age.

As the public waits for further updates on the case, the detainment of Pauline Njoroge remains a significant matter for the country, with implications reaching far beyond the realm of social media discourse.
