The late Bonchari MP Oroo Oyioka is expected to be laid to rest on Friday next week at his home in Suneka, Kisii county.
Geoffrey Mogire, the chairman of the committee organising Oyioka’s burial said a funeral service is set to be held at Itierio High School grounds in Suneka on the same day.
The family settled on the date in consultation with Gusii Members of Parliament who have been meeting in Nairobi County in a initiative led by Borabu lawmaker Ben Momanyi.
Momanyi chairs Oyioka’s burial organizing committee in Nairobi and is also a member of the Parliamentary Service Commission.
On Tuesday, a fundraiser has been planned for 680 Hotel in Nairobi to settle his burial expenses and another at the late MP’s home on Wednesday.

Oyioka, who was born in Suneka in 1950, died after suffering a stroke at Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu on Monday evening and left behind his wife, Teresa Bitutu and five adult children.
