The country is still reeling from shock after the body of former National Treasury official Tom Osinde was found dumped in River Kuja in Migori county with his family confirming after assessing his body.

Tom was on June 18 reported missing from his vast and lavish home in Ngata area of Nakuru County by his family members who searched for him frantically after his mobile phone was oddly switched off.

Police have since arrested two of his home workers in connection to the suspected murder of the former Treasury official and they have been detained for 21 days to aid with the ongoing investigation.

Tom is believed to have been hit with a blunt to death at his Ngata home in Nakuru before his suspected killers drove his body in his Land Cruiser Prado vehicle to River Kuja along the Kisii – Migori highway.

It remains a mystery the motive for his brutal murder that has dominated the headlines for the past one week and sending police to act swiftly in searching for the missing official before his body was retrieved.

“Thank you, friends, for your outpouring of love, prayers and support during my brother’s search. Unfortunately, the outcome isn’t the one we anticipated. Tom was killed and his body was found in Migori County. Please continue praying for us as we try to come to terms,” said his brother, Enock Nemwel Osinde on Thursday.

Tom’s employee Julius Mogoi is being treated by police as the prime suspect in his murder after he is reported to have unexplainably driven his boss’ car from his 10-acre Ngata farm all the way to Migori.

Tragically, Tom Osinde’s death came close to two years after his brother, Ken Osinde, suddenly passed away at Nairobi Hospital after a short unknown illness leaving behind more questions than answers.

Ken, who was the Chief of Staff at the then Deputy President William Ruto’s Harambee House Annexe office, died on December 10, 2021

Ken, who was born on August 18, 1962, held a Master’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) before lecturing at the University of Nairobi.

He later got a managerial job at the National Bank of Kenya (NBK) and rose through the ranks to the position of Head of Strategic Planning before being appointed Kenya’s ambassador to Germany in 2010.

While in university, Ken appeared in the popular soap Tushauriane, that aired on KBC in the mid 1990s.

While mourning Ken Nyauncho Osinde on December 23, 2021, Ruto said he had lost one his key officers who was hardworking, diligent and a master of human resource during his tenure as Chief of Staff.

“My office has lost one of its key officers. Ambassador Ken Nyauncho Osinde was a good leader with robust management and problem-solving skills,” tweeted Ruto then.

Ken is reported to have fallen sick a few months before he passed away but he never disclosed what ailed him with his work colleagues revealing during his burial that he had seemed stressed for months.

He, who started working at then DP Ruto’s Harambee House Annex office in 2016 as the Chief of Staff, acted as a mediator to handle a variety issues and resolve them before they reached his then boss.

The larger Osinde family is now in mourning for the second time in two years as tragedy struck yet again even as they await the police to unravel the reason behind the gruesome murder of the prominent man.
