In a significant breakthrough, law enforcement authorities have apprehended a robbery with violence suspect, leading to the recovery of two firearms believed to be connected to a string of robberies across multiple counties in Kenya.

The suspect, identified as Ezekiel Kiarie, had evaded capture for several days before being intercepted by detectives along Limuru Road as he attempted to flee with his family from the city to his rural home in Dundori, Nyandarua County.

Detectives made the decisive move after receiving information that the suspect, along with his family members and their belongings, was being transported to Nyandarua in a Mitsubishi Canter bearing registration number KAM 231J.

Their actions demonstrated the imminent closing in of the investigating team.

Upon a thorough search of the vehicle, authorities made a startling discovery – two firearms that have now been linked to a series of incidents in which bank customers were robbed shortly after making transactions.

The recovered weapons include a Czeska pistol bearing the serial number B022944, equipped with a magazine containing two rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Additionally, a CZ P-07 pistol with the serial number C626319 was found, accompanied by a magazine loaded with 12 rounds of 9mm calibre ammunition.

These firearms serve as crucial evidence in establishing the suspects' involvement in the reported robberies.

As the investigation unfolds, Kiarie and another suspect identified as David Mwangi alias Mzae have been taken into custody and are currently undergoing thorough interrogation in connection with their alleged crimes.

The authorities are working diligently to gather all relevant information before the suspects are presented in court for arraignment, scheduled for Thursday.

The recovery of these firearms and the arrest of the suspects offer a glimmer of hope to the victims who have fallen prey to the wave of robberies targeting bank customers.
