Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore has come out to denounce claims by Gatanga MP Edward Wakili Muriu that she had grabbed his house in Karen.

In a statement on social media, Bore denied forcefully moving into Muriu’s multi-million--shilling house located at Amara Ridge near Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi’s lavish Karen area.

According to the CS, they had reached a deal on the sale and that she had already started the process of paying for the purchase of the lavish property built by Cytonn Real Estate.

“I entered into an agreement to purchase the property at a negotiated and agreed purchase price. Resultantly, I signed my part of the agreement for sale and transmitted the agreement through my lawyer to the vendor’s lawyers for signing on their part,” said Bore in the statement.

She says the seller’s lawyers, Muriu, Mungai and Company (MMC Alafo), had acknowledged receiving the signed sale agreement and that she went on and paid a 10 per cent deposit.

“In compliance with the respective clauses of the agreement, I sourced a 10 per cent deposit from my Sacco and paid directly to the vendor’s lawyers’ account via RTGS.

The Labour CS says claims Muriu’s company had given her the green light to occupy the Karen house as she clears the balance within 90 days from the day of signing of the deal.

“We agreed that I take occupation of the house while I retreated to seek a mortgage facility for the balance, which I legitimately expected to obtain within the agreed transaction period of 90 days.”

She is accusing Muriu and his wife Maria Muriu of evicting her children from the house using goons while she was abroad for official duties prompting her to call in the police.

“For a colleague in leadership to take advantage of my absence from the country to run a hate campaign instead of waiting to engage me upon return is not only queer but buffling.”

Bore is accusing the Gatanga MP of resorting to “dramatized and sensational” claims to seeks a way out of the sale agreement after ostensibly finding a “better deal” on the house.

“The transaction was a private engagement between a willing seller and a willing buyer, both parties duly represented by lawyers in total conformity with the law.

“The media pitch was therefore unwarranted and ancillary to the transaction.”

Muriu claimed Bore forcefully moved into the house minus an agreement or paying any money to purchase it while they were attending their daughter’s graduation in the US.

Swala Nyeti has since learnt that the CS had relocated from Ongata Rongai to House No 3 in Karen but she was recently forced to move out after reportedly falling out with the landlord.

A source told our reporter that it is then that she sought to buy Muriu’s house and decided to move her things into the Amara Ridge property after taking the keys from the caretaker.

Bore is reported to have offered Muriu Sh90 million for the house when she initiated negotiations to purchase it but the lawmaker was adamant on being paid Sh120 million.
