Two women who were abducted a week ago have been successfully rescued, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau and the Operations branch.

Erica Gachoka, 26, daughter of renowned media personality Ciku Muiruri, and her friend Shanice Agose, 27, went missing on June 4, shortly after attending a house party in Nairobi's Westlands area.

The harrowing ordeal ended yesterday, as the authorities executed a well-coordinated operation to bring the victims to safety.

The terrifying incident unfolded when Erica and Shanice, seeking transportation to Kilimani, hailed the popular Bolt online cab.

However, upon entering the vehicle along Rhapta Road in Westlands, the two were met with an unimaginable threat as the driver brandished a hammer and swiftly sped away towards Thika.

With the immediate commencement of investigations, determined detectives embarked on the trail of the culprits, who had been operating across several locations, namely Nairobi, Thika, Ruiru, and Witeithie in Kiambu County.

To intensify their pursuit, the abductors cunningly demanded a substantial ransom of Sh250,000 from each captive, attempting to exploit the dire situation.

However, the relentless efforts of law enforcement officials ensured that these criminals would not succeed in their nefarious plot.

Sunday marked a breakthrough in the investigation, as the officers conducted a targeted raid on a residence in the Ngoigwa area of Thika.

During this operation, Timothy Kiragu, 34, and Samuel Kipkurui, 33, were swiftly apprehended.

Following a brief interrogation, the duo provided vital information that led the detectives to Gatukuyu in Mang'u, Kiambu County, where Erica and Shanice were ultimately rescued.

In the process of apprehending the suspects, law enforcement authorities recovered an assortment of crude weapons and fake motor-vehicle number plates, shedding light on the sinister intentions of these criminals.

The recovery of such evidence further underscores the importance of vigilant police work and collaborative efforts in combating crime.

The moment of triumph was met with mixed emotions as Erica and Shanice, visibly weakened and shaken from their traumatic experience, were discovered locked up in a confined one-roomed house.
