Renowned Disk Jockey Michael Macharia Njiiri a.k.a. DJ Brownskin appeared in court on Monday to face charges related to a recent suicide case, where he stands accused of aiding, neglecting to prevent a tragic event namely his wife's suicide and tampering with crucial evidence.

The charges against the DJ were read out in court, highlighting the severity of the allegations.

In the first count, DJ Brownskin was charged with aiding the suicide of his late wife, Sharon Njeri, under Section 225 (b) of the Penal Code.

Brownskin was charged in the second count with neglect to prevent a felony, accused of failing to exercise reasonable care to prevent the suicide still under Section 225 (c) of the Penal Code.

This section states that anyone who induces or counsels another person to take their own life, or aids in such an act, is guilty of a felony and may face life imprisonment.

The prosecution claims that he had a duty to take necessary measures to prevent the tragedy but failed to do so. This charge carries significant legal implications and could have far-reaching consequences for the DJ.

Additionally, Brownskin faces another charge for destroying evidence. According to the allegations, he deliberately removed his mobile phone, which had a SIM card from his possession, with the intent to prevent it from being used as evidence in a judicial proceeding.

Such tampering with evidence is considered a serious offence and is believed to have occurred while the DJ was aware of its potential relevance to the case.

Despite the charges against him, Brownskin pleaded not guilty during the court proceedings.

As a result, he has been remanded in custody for three days pending a probation report.

This temporary detention will allow further investigation into the matter and provide the court with a comprehensive understanding of the DJ's character and background before proceeding with the trial.

The police initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the suicide, leading to the charges against Brown Skin.

The police chose this charge based on their findings and the evidence available to them.

DJ Brown Skin was arrested on Madaraka Day after engaging the authorities in a relentless game of hide and seek.

He had been summoned by the investigators to shed light on the unfortunate demise of his wife, a tragic event that unfolded in the wee hours of July 29 and 30, 2022.

In a sombre and heart-wrenching revelation that hit the digital spaces on April 1, a renowned blogger unveiled video footage capturing Njeri's final moments.

As the case unfolds, the public awaits further details and the opportunity to gain a clearer understanding of the events surrounding this tragedy.

The court proceedings will shed light on the truth and determine the DJ's fate while providing closure for those affected by the loss of life.
